On 8th August, the Tokyo Olympics 2020 got over, and India finished with a medal tally which was the best in 40 years. While India finished the Olympic Medal tally at the 48th position, the list was topped by the USA. The next Olympic games is scheduled to happen in Paris, France, in 2024.

This was a historic win as India secured an Olympic gold medal in elusive athletics after a 100-year long wait.
Mirabai Chanu
With a monstrous 202-kg combined lift in the 49-kg weightlifting category, Mirabai Chanu secured a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Chanu belongs from Manipur, who gained all the strength by carrying the firewood in the hills. Her strength was noticed by former international weightlifter and coach Anita Chanu, and that's how Mirabai's journey began.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya
Ravi Kumar Dahiya gave a terrific performance in the men's freestyle 57 kg event at the Tokyo Olympics and secured a silver medal for the country. He is 2nd ever Indian wrestler to secure an Olympic medal in wrestling after Sushil Kumar.
Men's Hockey Team
People went gaga when India's men hockey team won a bronze medal as India waited for 41 years to get an Olympic medal in hockey. The last time India won an Olympic medal in hockey was in 1980 when the hockey team secured gold.
PV Sindhu
Ace badminton player PV Sindhu secured a bronze medal and became the only Indian badminton player to win two Olympic medals.
Lovlina Borgohain
Lovlina Borgohain secured a bronze medal in boxing, becoming the third Indian boxer to do so.
Bajrang Punia
Bajrang Punia secured a bronze medal, becoming the only Indian wrestler to have won three championship medals.
